The current Bodie Island Lighthouse is the third that has stood in this vicinity of Bodie Island on the Outer Banks in North Carolina and was built in 1872.

I like to photograph the lighthouses at night to showoff the most important part of the lighthouses and that is the light that is used. The trick with the photographing them at night is to not overexpose the light on top in which you loose detail of the glass dome if you do.
