Description
Lilium michauxii, commonly known as the Carolina lily, can be found in the southeastern United States from southern Virginia in the north to the Florida Panhandle in the south to eastern Texas in the west. It is most common in July and August but can be found blooming as late as October.
This lily was photographed in the woods near my home in the North Carolina Uwharrie National Forest in August of 2020 after thunderstorms had moved through. It is pure natural light as sunlight was peeking through the pines late in the day casting a few highlights on the leaves of the plant while not directly hitting the flower itself. I was laying down resting my d500 with a 105mm macro on my camera bag to get these shots. One photo I was at f/5.6 and the other around f/8.
I am grateful for your visit to my natural world photography galleries here on Fine Art America and on my Pixels website. My work is available in print mounted or unmounted, framed print, acrylic print, metal print, wood print, canvas print, greeting cards, t-shirts, posters, bed spreads, tote bags and many other ways. Sizes range from the 5" x 7" greeting card to 72" wide many cases! All materials are archival and printed for lifetime use in a home or in an office or a hotel chain and even an educational setting.
