Description
What a long exhausting journey the little pixies of the forest make twice a year. Here in The Uwharrie National Forrest one arrived this year at my home on April first in Randolph County, North Carolina. So if you wanna look out for those hummers every spring, get those feeders out early. April first is early for a hummer but Im glad I had feeders out and you will be to if you put yours out and one shows up that early. These jewels of mother nature are birders a delight.
The ruby-throated hummingbird is a species of hummingbird that generally spends the winter in Central America, Mexico, and Florida, and migrates to Eastern North America for the summer to breed. It is by far the most common hummingbird seen east of the Mississippi River in North America.
