Description
In the mid 2000s my area was hit with a major ice storm in North Carolina. The extreme weather brought down power lines with up to 1/2 inch of ice coating them. Transformers were blowing up all night long and into the next day. Some folks were without power for over a month. I remember how dangerous it was to photograph the event for the paper because if you were near trees you were in danger. A constant barrage of cracking and falling trees along with exploding transformers were everywhere.
This was the one artistic photo that came out of that experience of a lifetime.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
